Important message for all :
The Meat Workers Union continues to stand with AFFCO and other Talley's workers in the Meat Industry. For as long as it takes, the union movement and the community is with these workers. The longer it goes on, the more determined we are.
More than 20,000 proud meat workers work in NZ’s freezing works who contribute to an important NZ export industry. Most companies in the meat industry understand the important role that the skill and commitment of workers play in their industry. They play fair.
But Talley's owned companies don't. They are outliers in this industry and they are letting everyone down.
We need your help. Join with us and we'll be in touch about what’s happening in this important campaign.
The thing about Helen is that everyone loved her : all of us who knew her, worked with her, came into contact with her, fought alongside her, felt that we were special. Knowing Helen was like that and now we share our grief at her loss.
The Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal by Affco New Zealand Ltd against a decision of the Employment Court. The Employment Court had held that Affco had unlawfully locked out members of the Meat Workers Union. The Court of Appeal upheld that conclusion.
