Show your support

1000 MWU members who work for AFFCO Talleys have been trying to get a fair agreement for a year now.  Their old agreement expired a year ago and with new employment laws coming in on 6th March, your show of solidarity right now is just what they need to make another push.

I can’t believe the law is not supporting what is clearly a breach of statutory duty. I am a student at weltec Petone, doing a paper on Employment Relations and learning about good faith, fair and reasonable, communicative and responses AND yet Talley’s is failing to do this. So shocking and I’m glad i’m aware of the law and what our people are going through now shame on Talley’s….

I validate all the efforts Talley’s employees and Unions are making, to improve pay, conditions ect.

Holy heck Talleys. Will you ever act like a decent employer rather than a bottom of the barrell employer. Why don’t you actually start to be civilised and join the human race. Stop your silly court action and put away your pettiness and get a life. For goodness sake, I struggle to remember anything as pathetic in the history of NZ industrial relations as your current meat workers facebook legal action. Get over it and get on with becoming decent human beings.

Solidarity, fully support our NZMU members working hard with this bastard employer who has a lapse view of health and safety and a huge anti union attitude and practices.

Big ups to the delegates and officials fighting the good but hard fight in the authortiy and employment court and at the sites. Disciplinary meetings, collective bargaining and building union etc.

have always had concerns that this company has long work hours and unethical coniditions in some cases.

    Hey Talley’s workers,

The talley’s family are well know for being union busters – the fact that you are still organising against them is a testament to the strength of the union. Kia Kaha and all power to you during you negotiations.

We are Kiwi’s but we live in Tonga, when we heard that you can receive your National Superannuation payments overseas we thought NZ was a good place to escape from but that does not stop us from feeling for those who are trapped in the system to fight the good fight.

    Good luck.

My father was a labourer/driver for the local borough council. I haven’t forgotten my roots. New Zealand is being turned into a place where half the population is being treated as less deserving. The current power base is controlled by a person whose career path provided nothing tangible, so there is little empathy within government which is supported by business that seeks profit at the expense of workers. Keep up your fight.

Ive worked for talleys before. We tryed to get the same thing. we had half the plant signed up to the union and we were almost there to have a union in the malvern plant untill the off season…. no one that had signed into the union got asked back or wanted back. they destroyed our hopes of having a union backup, this was wrong. I support the union hard and will always back them.

ive got a good talleys story i can now share legally. Im the one that cut himself at the malvern plant and waited for another worker to finish work so he could take me to medical care as the company told me they were “too busy” I spent 3 days in hospital and have permanent damage to the arm.

Talleys cant keep getting away with the things they do

Tired of workers being taken advantage of by greedy corporates. It is time to stand up and get fair wages for fair work. My father fought for the 40 hour week and won. Look what has happened to that now. Shame on Talley’s.
